Acer shaped a bunch of products when it declared its decision to leap into the Budget tablet division with the Acer Iconia B1-A71 that it first launched during CES and later, as reported by us, announced it in India at a pretty handsome price of Rs. 7,999.
Hardware & Design
The Acer Iconia B1-A71 tablet is made of plastic and is of light weight but feel delicate. Talking about the design and structure of the tablet, the frontage of the tablet has a large black bezel and the screen like to a digital photo frame. The VGA camera is at the right side. There is a weird and wonderful Blue-colored frame designing the tablet at the sides. It seems more like a toy although we do comprehend that it’s a budget tablet.
The back has also in black colored plastic. A MicroUSB port is positioned at the base with a slit for a microSD while the 3.5-mm headsets jack at the crest of the device. The volume rocker and the power button have been positioned at the right side of this tablet.

The 7-inch capacitive multitouch screen appears with a dimension of 1024×600 pixels with 170ppi density. The screen is bright but very reflective and this impedes visibility in sunlight. Images appear to be less spiky. Sides’ angles are bad and colors appear different from the real. The screen is elegant for reading e-books and magazines. The touch sensitivity is outstanding and we didn’t bump into any issues whilst using the device.

The Acer Iconia B1-A71 runs at Android 4.1.2 – Jelly Bean, similar to the Nexus 7. This tablet’s onscreen control for Home, Back and App Switching are placed at the center and the immediate access settings for brightness, Airplane mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and shortcut to Settings are positioned at the top spot in the notification tray.
The regular lock screen allows you to either unlock the gadget or go directly into the camera. Then the Google’s foremost features like “project butter” and “Google Now” make the tablet more responsive and amazing to use. Google Now assembles the information supported the user’s behavior, locality and even e-mail the information automatically.
Acer Iconia B1-A71 Hands-on Review
The Acer Iconia B1-A71 appears with a 0.3-MP front facing camera. The pictures that clicked with the front camera were very loutish. It’s functional is best and do an instant job for making video calls on Skype or other more famous video chat apps.
Performance/ Battery Life
The tablet is strengthened by a 1.2-GHz Dual-Core processor along with 512-MB of RAM. Multitasking is comfortable and able to play 720p HD videos but not for 1080p videos.
The Acer Iconia B1-A71 appears with a 2710-mAh battery which is a little inadequate specially if playing music and videos. It’s able to get about 4 hours playback video with the display on complete brightness intensity. The tablet’s standby time was about a day and gives between 5-6 hours of continuous use on a single charge.
The Acer Iconia B1-A71 is a great selection, if you are looking a tablet for casual usage of reading e-books, web browsing and playing sporty game.
